Russian actor gets Golden Globe nod β RT Entertainment
Russian actor Yury Borisov has been nominated for an award at the 82nd Golden Globes for his role in the film βAnoraβ by American director Sean Baker.
The nominations were announced on Monday. Borisov is a candidate for βbest performance by an actor in a supporting roleβ. He will be competing against Denzel Washington for his role in Ridley Scottβs βGladiator IIβ, and Edward Norton for his part in James Mangoldβs βA Complete Unknownβ.
Baker received two nominations for βAnoraβ β for βbest directorβ and βbest screenplayβ.
The film tells the love story between Brooklyn sex worker Anora and the son of a Russian oligarch. When the two get married, the young manβs family sets out to do everything they can to break them apart.

Borisov, 32, plays the role of Igor, a taciturn henchman of the groomβs family.
The actor graduated from the Mikhail Shchepkin Higher Theater School in 2013, but began his film acting career in 2010. He won Russiaβs Golden Eagle Award in 2021 for best leading actor in βThe Bullβ.
This yearβs Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 5 at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles, California.
