The pubs are ranked according to the site’s ‘highest rating’ filter. 

The Horseshoes Inn, Rennington is highly rated for its hearty food, cosy atmosphere, welcoming service and reasonable prices.

Another said: “Dropped into the Horseshoes on a whim, as we’re house hunting in the Northumberland coastal area. Really pleased we did! Lovely warm atmosphere in the bar, with a fab log burner chasing the January chill away.”

Rose & Crown, Slaley is another top-rated on the traveller’s website. 

“Very welcoming staff and local customers. Excellent choice of food available. Food was served promptly and was of excellent quality,” one reviewer said.

Another said their dog was welcomed by staff.

Although the pub was busy with mainly locals we were given a warm welcome and our dog was given plenty of attention. Good pub menu with a specials board and good choice of beers and cider.”

The White Swan Inn, Belford has been praised for its ‘warm welcomes’ and ‘very good’ Sunday lunches.

A warm welcome from the young lady behind the bar, and friendly conversation from customers made it memorable. Lunch on Sunday was very good, pink roast beef, beautifully cooked vegetables and crunchy roast potatoes. The serving staff were friendly and smiling.”

The Tankerville Arms Eglingham has a ‘lovely cosy, country feel to it,’ one reviewer said.

The service was excellent and very quick. The two female members of staff were pleasant, friendly and attentive.”

Carts Bog Inn, Langley-on-Tyne serves ‘unbelievable food’ in a ‘warm friendly atmosphere’.
