Cocoa Joe’s in Nidderdale has 5/5 TripAdvisor rating

Cocoa Joe’s, on the High Street in Pateley Bridge, has become one of Nidderdale’s most talked-about cafés thanks to its artisan hot chocolates, friendly service and unique menu inspired by single-origin chocolate from around the world.

The café currently holds a perfect 5/5 rating on TripAdvisor, with visitors regularly describing it as “the best hot chocolate ever” and “well worth a special trip”.

Known for specialising in luxury chocolate drinks, Cocoa Joe’s offers a wide range of hot and iced chocolates made using Belgian and single-origin chocolates from countries including Vietnam, Ecuador, Colombia and São Tomé.

Creative menu options include drinks flavoured with thyme and raspberry, chilli and cardamom, lemon and elderflower, and even apple crumble-inspired hot chocolate.

The café was previously described by the Daily Mail as serving “the country’s best hot chocolate” and has also featured on television and radio for its unusual take on chocolate drinks.

One recent Tripadvisor reviewer called their visit “a fantastic experience”, writing: “The staff were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the chocolate.

“They helped us choose and gave us a small sample to help with our final decision.”

Another visitor described the drinks as “the best hot chocolate I’ve drunk in a long time”, while one customer said their mocha was so good they now “can’t buy one anywhere else”.

The café’s homemade sweet treats also receive regular praise, particularly its chocolate tiffin and chocolate buttons.

One customer said the tiffin was “simply the best”, while another described the café as “an absolute treat” and said its drinks were “worth every penny”.

Despite its small size, visitors say Cocoa Joe’s has become an essential stop when visiting Pateley Bridge, with many recommending takeaway drinks to enjoy while walking around the market town or exploring nearby Nidderdale.

Located beside the River Nidd in the Nidderdale National Landscape, Pateley Bridge has become increasingly popular with tourists thanks to its independent shops, scenic walks and links to the television reboot of All Creatures Great and Small.
