Harvey’s Event Catering in Darlington to close its doors
Low Coniscliffe-based Harvey’s Event Catering, has announced Sunday (May 24) will be its final day of trading.
Boses Steve and Jo say they plan to travel the UK coast in their motorhome searching for their new home.
Harvey’s was founded in 2013, and the pair toured the UK food festival scene before finding what they described as a “temporary” home in Low Coniscliffe in 2020, where they remain to this day.
When events dried up during Covid they stationed themselves in a layby by the Baydale Beck pub.
In an emotional statement on Facebook, they said: “Hi everyone, for those of you that donβt already know, Jo and I have sold our house and have recently been packing it up ready for the imminent completion date.
“We were unsure if we could manage to trade again at the lay-by due to time constraints, but we have decided to trade for one last day on Sunday, May 24.
“Come on down this Sunday, 8am til 2pm, say hello and enjoy some of your favourite Harveyβs Sunday treats.”
The duo also said they are sad to be hanging up their aprons and leaving Low Coniscliffe, but excited for what the future holds.
They added: “We honestly canβt put into words how much weβll miss you all.
“Your continued support of Harveyβs and of us personally has been amazing. So many of you have become true friends, which makes this so incredibly difficult.
“That said, a new chapter is beginning for us, and itβs exciting and a little bit scary too.
“From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for making our time here so very special. Weβll miss you all so much.”
Gutted customers have paid tribute to the pair, wishing them the best and promising to call in for “one last bit of scran”.
