The Talbot in Bishopton named in Echo’s best restaurant competition

The Talbot, in Bishopton, owned by Dean Bunce, opened in January 2026.

It is the second pub Dean has opened, and he said it is β€œamazing” to be shortlisted in the top ten.

Dean said: β€œWe are very grateful; we have only been here three months, but we have grown so fast. We are averaging a minimum of 250 people for Sunday dinner now.”

And Dean said what makes The Talbot so special is the location.

β€œWe’re a destination pub, and where we are in Bishopton is beautiful. It is so peaceful here,” he said.

The owner of The Talbot said the best part of working at the pub is meeting people from the village.

He said: β€œWe also have a fantastic team.

β€œI spend most of my time in the kitchen, but on Sundays I prep up, and then I am front of house. It is great to speak to people and ask what they would like to see in their village.”

Dean said it would be β€œfantastic” to win, adding: β€œWith being a new business in the area, I couldn’t be prouder of everyone if we were able to achieve it.

β€œWinning a local award such as this would also mean that little bit more. It means people care about what we are doing.”

And he had a message for everyone who nominated the pub.

Dean said: β€œIt is very much appreciated, and we are very, very grateful. We will continue to try and give our best and serve the best quality of food we can.”
