Reason for closure of Manor House pub at Ingleby Barwick still unknown

Punters were shocked last week when The Manor House, on High Lane in Maltby, suddenly shut its doors on Monday, March 16.Β

News that the pub had shut came after reports online of bookings being cancelled the previous weekend.Β

Pictures taken at the pub last week showed how wooden boards had been erected on the windows and doors of half of the former Yorkshire Dragoon.Β

And now, the entire downstairs floor of The Manor House has been boarded up.Β

Signs for the venue remain at either entrance to the car park and on the side of the building, which showed no sign of life on Thursday (March 26).Β

Sir John Fitzgerald Pubs, which runs the venue, has not yet commented on the closure despite multiple attempts at contact by The Northern Echo.Β

It is not yet known whether the closure is permanent – although the Manor House page on the chain’s website now shows up an error.Β

Camra (the Campaign for Real Ale) now lists the pub as “closed, future uncertain” while Google states it has been “temporarily closed”.

The Manor House has been run by Sir John Fitzgerald Pubs for several years and has garnered rave reviews for its β€œdelicious” chicken parmesans and β€œexcellent” Sunday lunches.Β

Before being The Manor House, it was known as the Yorkshire Dragoon and long before that as the New Inn.Β
