Their comments were made in response to a Facebook post asking which businesses people love and want to support.

Among the many businesses mentioned were florists, cafés, hairdressers, and butchers.

Vera Harrison said: “D&J Meats, Willington – best fresh local meat and more by far.”

D&J Meats was also mentioned by Sonia Hope and Debra Pollock.

Marc Atkinson said: “Daisy Rose Coffee House!

“What a place.

“Family-run business with all home-made sweet treats and the coffee is made with a taste that blows your taste buds away.”

Joanne Brown said: “All in Bloom in Willington.”

James Crowe said: “Aycliffe Service Centre, cracking service from them & these guys at Wreck & Recovery helping also.”

Louise Adams said: “Arianna’s Baby Boutique based in Houghton-le-Spring.”

Other businesses mentioned were Flourish & Bloom, the Lamp Room in Seaham, and the Corner House in Darlington.

The shout-outs come as the cost of living continues to squeeze people’s finances.
