February half-term attractions at Life Science Centre

Life Science Centre in Newcastle is hosting a packed programme of hands-on fun for visitors of all ages, including a high-energy Rocket Show from February 14 to 22.

Delivered by special guests Wonderstruck, the show promises explosive learning with fireballs, big bangs, and a closer look at the science behind rockets and their inventions.

Life’s wider half-term line-up includes ‘Find the Fake,’ a live science show exploring artificial intelligence and how the brain can be tricked by cleverly crafted illusions.

Visitors can expect visual tricks, mind-bending challenges, and “plenty of surprises” as they discover the secrets behind things that are not always as they seem.

The Life Science Centre has also updated its planetarium experience with ‘Sky Tonight – Orion,’ a presenter-led 360-degree journey through the evening sky as it would appear that night, free from clouds and light pollution.

Younger visitors can enjoy ‘Bump in the Night,’ a gentle planetarium show about a child’s experience of shadows and sounds in the dark.

Life: The Greatest Story takes audiences from the origins of life on Earth to the search for extra-terrestrial life in a fully immersive 360-degree show.

There’s plenty of hands-on fun elsewhere at the centre, including the Making Studios, where families can create and take home cardboard selfies.

In the Experiment Zone, visitors aged seven and up can investigate the best material for an astronaut’s helmet visor using ultraviolet light.

The centre’s latest exhibition, Lightbox – which features Europe’s largest tornado tower -is also open as part of the science centre entry ticket.

A full Science Centre ticket gives access to all attractions, including the Play Zone for under-sevens.
