The Spennymoor salon in top ten of Echo best hairdresser
The Maddison McKenna salon, at 69 High Street in Spennymoor, has been shortlisted after a surge of support from loyal customers and new clients alike.
Owners Victoria Bent, 39, from Kirk Merrington, and Megan Maddison, 30, from Hunwick, met working together at another salon.
But when Victoria felt ready to move on and start something new, Megan was keen to join her and wanted to open her own salon before turning 30.
The doors opened in February last year, and since then, business has gone from strength to strength.

The pair say they each brought different strengths to the venture, specialising in different aspects of hairdressing.
Victoria said: “It has been absolutely phenomenal and better than we could ever have imagined. We have support from previous clients as well as new ones that have become loyal and it is just brilliant. We cannot stop smiling about it. It has been surreal the support and we never expected to be nominated for something like this either.
“We are creative and knowledgeable and just work so well together we have another stylist who came from the place we used to work and an apprentice too who is amazing, we really are the dream team.”
