Linthorpe Road One Stop Middlesbrough set to shut next month

The One Stop branch on Linthorpe Road in Middlesbrough is set to shut next month, The Northern Echo understands.

A One Stop spokesperson said: “We have taken the difficult decision to close our One Stop store at Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough.

“We continue to serve the local area through a number of nearby stores.”

The shop, over the years has had multiple thefts and robberies that have cost the shop thousands of pounds.

One, in 2019, saw a man enter the store and jumped over the counter whilst it was unoccupied by staff and forcibly opened the till, stealing cash from inside.

The closest branches to the store are One Stop on Eastbourne Road and One Stop at Tollesby Shops.

Both are less than two miles from the Linthorpe Road site.

The Northern Echo also understand the company will continue to consult with colleagues about the change, and that all One Stop colleagues will have the option to explore alternative roles available within One Stop.
