Mulgrave starts work on Scorton housing development
The 10-home scheme in Scorton, near Richmond, is being led by homebuilder Mulgrave.
The project is being built on Meadow Rise, a nearly three-acre site off Station Road.
Debbie Foster, sales director at Mulgrave, said: “Meadow Rise will be an attractive development as it has been designed to blend seamlessly with the existing village architecture.
“Mulgrave is known for providing characterful new homes which benefit from energy efficiency and low-carbon heating, all to a high specification, and we are pleased to be bringing this approach to Meadow Rise.
“This development will provide rural homes for a range of budgets, while our contributions towards investment in education and provision of affordable homes will also be a positive benefit to this area of North Yorkshire.”
The site will include a mix of two, three, four, and five-bedroom properties.
Six homes are for private saleβthree, four, and five-bedroom detached houses including a separate double garage with home office over.
Four of the homes will be delivered as affordable housing under the Governmentβs First Homes scheme.
The private homes will all feature low carbon air source heat pumps, solar PV panels and battery storage, and electric vehicle charging points.
The development will also feature public open space, including a childrenβs play area and a pond.
As part of the planning agreement, Mulgrave has committed to investing more than Β£40,000 in education for the area.
The four affordable homes will be a mix of two and three-bedroom properties.
Ms Foster highlighted the convenience of the location, noting that Scorton offers a medical centre, village stores, a post office, and two pubs all within walking distance of the new development.
The village is also a short drive from the A1, making it accessible for commuters.
The scheme will include biodiversity measures such as bat and bird bricks, bee posts, a bug hotel, and hedgehog gates in fencing.
These features are designed to ensure that the creatures do not get trapped in gardens.
