Wetherspoon confirms full list of new pubs opening in UK

From Blackpool to Edinburgh and even on Haven Holiday Parks, 11 venues are set to open their doors for the first time by summer 2026.

The earliest openings which includes two different locations at Bath and Flookburgh in Cumbria, will take place at the beginning of March.

It comes as, back in November 2025, the budget-friendly boozer chain said it planned to open 30 new pubs in its current financial year – 15 managed pubs and 15 franchises.

Wetherspoon already operates nearly 800 pubs across the UK.

• Flookburgh (Cumbria) – March 3
• Great Yarmouth – March 24
• Blackpool – March 31
• Hayle, Cornwall (four at Haven Holiday Parks) – April 2
• Fareham – April 7
• Birmingham University – May 25
• Edinburgh – July 21

On its website, Wetherspoon shares: “Each pub has its own design, character and personality, based on local history”.

Opening date for first Weatherspoon pub in Spain confirmed

Aside from the new UK locations, Wetherspoon will also be opening its first pub in mainland Europe, at Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport in Spain.

Named Castell de Santa Barbera, the pub is based in departures, allowing UK holidaymakers to have a taste of Britain before they fly back home.

It will open in just a matter of days, on Monday, February 9 and will trade seven days a week from 6am to 9pm.

The pub at Alicante airport will offer traditional pub food, including English fry-ups and burgers, alongside some popular local dishes such as garlic prawns and Spanish omelette.

Wetherspoon founder and chairman Sir Tim Martin previously said: “We are very much looking forward to opening our first overseas pub.

“We believe it will be popular with people travelling home from Alicante airport.”

“We aim to open a number of pubs overseas in the coming months and years, including those at airports,” Tim added.
