Newcastle restaurant Hide Bistro closes despite Michelin guide place
Hide, in Heaton, Newcastle, announced the closure “with a heavy heart,” on social media.
The restaurant opened in October 2024 and quickly gained praise for its “intricate, ambitious creations with a playful streak,” which earned it a place in the Michelin Guide.
Announcing the closure on social media, the restaurant posted: “It is with much sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the permanent closure of Hide.
“We are extremely proud of the product we created and shared with so many, however 2025 was such a challenging year and unfortunately, the business became unsustainable.
“Our team has been incredibly hardworking and at the heart of all the achievements, including being included in the Michelin guide in under a year.
“For this we are truly grateful and eternally proud of all those who contributed.
“To all those who have visited, thank you for your support and sharing some great moments with us.”
Customers reacted with sadness at the announcement on social media.
Karen Oxley said: “Gutted to hear this.Β Had some fab (sic) meals here and the team are great.
“Good luck and thanks.”
Jamie Kirtley added: “Very sad to hear this. Such an amazing restaurant. Food was sublime.”
