Rage It Out in Consett announces new opening date next month

Rage It Out, which is located at 12–16 Queen Street, is set to be Consett’s first rage room experience, bringing something entirely new to the town.

However, despite original plans of opening at the end of last year, the business confirmed on social media it is now working towards a new opening date of February 6.

The post said: “Our goal is still February 6th. Are we running a little behind? Yes. Are we panicking? Absolutely not.

“At this stage, things aren’t delayed enough to move the opening date just yet – and we’ll shout loudly if that changes.”

A rage room is a controlled space where visitors can smash objects such as bottles, furniture, and electronics as a way to release stress and tension.

The firm said it has encountered “unexpected water-related issues” at the long-vacant building, which has slowed progress during its renovation work.

However, it has been confirmed that these problems are now being addressed, with toilet renovations expected to be completed throughout January.

Cold weather has also affected the new rage room’s progress, with painting work unable to go ahead during the recent cold snap.

The post added: “Still waiting to paint due to the cold snap. Once temperatures behave themselves, paint goes down and then the absolute legend Custom Artwerk will return to add the final magic.”

Rage It Out said equipment for the smash rooms has already started to arrive and that a behind-the-scenes video is expected to be released within the next week.

The business also confirmed its plans to hire two members of staff but has asked applicants not to apply just yet.

A formal recruitment announcement will be shared closer to the opening date.

The post said: “Consett, we see your rage. There is plenty on this page alone! And yes… help is on the way.

“Amazing things take time, but one thing is guaranteed…We’ll be open WAY before GTA 6 drops.

“Thanks for sticking with us – we promise it’ll be worth the wait.”
