Premier Express Shop on Gladstone Street will be open from 9am until 9pm offering groceries and everyday items for people who may have forgotten something or need supplies during the day.

Babul’s Darlington

Babul’s Darlington will be hosting its Festive Feed on Christmas Day, opening its doors to anyone who is homeless, lonely or vulnerable.

The restaurant will provide a warm meal, a safe space, and companionship, recognising that Christmas can be a difficult time for many.

Skerne Park Shop and Post Office

Skerne Park Shop and Post Office will also be open on Christmas Day from 8am until 12.30pm, giving residents access to essentials during the morning.

Cockerton Pharmacy

Cockerton Pharmacy will be operating bank holiday hours on Christmas Day opening from 10am until 6pm.

The pharmacy team will be available to offer advice, treatments and vaccinations to help keep families well over the festive period.

Abus

Abus Darlington will be open on Christmas Day from 12pm until 7pm providing food options for those not cooking at home or looking for a takeaway meal.

Consett Salvation Army

Elsewhere, Consett Salvation Army will welcome guests for a full day of food, songs and company from 10.45am until 3.30pm at its hall in Sherburn Terrace.

The event is open to anyone who might otherwise spend Christmas alone or who wants to spend the day differently with a festive meal games, a quiz, the King’s speech and a gift included.

Which pharmacies are open?

Several pharmacies across County Durham will be open on Christmas Day.

• Stanhope Chemists Limited at 79 Front Street, Stanhope, Bishop Auckland will open from 2pm until 5pm.

• Derwent Valley Pharmacy at 11 to 12 Station Road, Consett, will be open from 9.30am until 4pm.
• Boots at 2 North Street, Ferryhill, will trade from 10am until 1pm. M Whitfield Limited at 34 Sunderland Road, Gilesgate, Durham will open from 2pm until 5pm.
• Well Pharmacy at 1 The Avenue, Deneside, Seaham will also be open from 2pm until 5pm.
