Consultancy Opencast expands after major contract wins
Opencast, headquartered in Newcastle, has grown its team to 503 employees, with additional hires in London and Leeds.
This brings its wider delivery network to more than 640 people when including associates and partners.
The company, founded in 2012, specialises in user-centred digital and technology solutions.

It has delivered services for both the public and private sectors that support millions of citizens, businesses, patients and clinicians.

The company has seen rapid expansion in 2025 following major contract wins with public and private sector clients.
This includes new work with the Home Office and Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, as well as growth at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), HM Revenue and Customs, Ministry of Justice, Department for Education, NHS England and the NHS Business Service Authority.
Opencast has also secured a place on the Crown Commercial Serviceβs Technology Services 4 (TS4) framework, estimated to be worth Β£16 billion.
This will provide Opencast with access to new opportunities to support public sector clients.
Sanjay Baranwal, one of the new starters that have taken Opencast past the 500-employee mark, joined as a Senior DevOps Consultant after 28 years in software across multiple tech sectors around the world.
Mr Baranwal said: “I knew of Opencast through some work I was doing with DWP and Iβm really enjoying working with the company.
“Opencast has such a great βpeopleβ culture and our Newcastle headquarters, where Iβm based, are fantastic.
“The work is incredibly interesting.”
The company has received national recognition for its rapid growth and collaborative approach.
It has been featured in the Sunday Times and the Financial Times 1000: Europeβs Fastest-Growing Companies 2025 ranking.
It has also received an award from the Institute of Collaborative Working.
Mr Lawson said Opencast is continuing to hire across several specialisms.
He said: “And weβre still hiring β we have vacancies across user centred design, software development, quality assurance, data and business analysis, product delivery and architecture.”
