STACK Middlesbrough draws in 300k punters in first year

The popular venue announced the news as it prepares to mark its first birthday on Exchange Square next week on December 10.

Footfall numbers have revealed that a staggering 300,000 people have walked through the doors of the entertainment spot in just 12 months.

STACK chief executive Neill Winch said it was “just the beginning of what STACK can deliver” in the town, saying it has “huge potential” for the future.

The news comes just months after Middlesbrough Council revealed STACK was close to signing a long-term deal to stay in the town.

The council said it had “revitalised nightlife” in the area and has been so popular that it β€œregularly outperforms” its Newcastle sister venue.

Bosses have teased there are ambitious plans in place for 2026, with more details yet to be released.

Mayor Chris Cooke said: “STACK has been a real success story for our town centre.

β€œThe numbers are incredible and prove that there is a strong market in Middlesbrough for big leisure brands.

β€œThe area around Exchange Square on Albert Road is starting to thrive and STACK has played a huge part in that.

β€œI also know how they’re getting stuck in and committing time to volunteering in the town and supporting our events.”

Neill Winch added: β€œReaching more than a quarter of a million visitors in our first year is a fantastic milestone, but the real story is what this means for Middlesbrough.

β€œSTACK was created to bring people back into town and to spark new life in places that deserve to thrive. Exchange Square is a perfect example of how the right investment, energy and programming can turn an underused area into a vibrant destination.

β€œWe’re incredibly proud to play a role in the wider regeneration of the town centre and to work alongside the Mayor, local organisations and the community to keep that momentum going.

“Middlesbrough has huge potential, and this is just the beginning of what STACK can deliver as we continue to grow our footprint across the UK.”

Several members of the staff have seen their careers progress with examples of local workers being promoted to management roles.

Tickets for the STACK New Year’s Eve party are on sale now.
