The Cleveland Tontine hotel and pub to become wedding venue
The Cleveland Tontine, at Staddlebridge, near Northallerton, has been closed to the public for several weeks – with a message appearing on the website that the venue was “under development”.
Despite no other details being revealed at this time about what the future holds for The Cleveland Tontine, the Provenance Collection, which owns the hotel, has now laid out what’s in store for the building, which is located near the A19.
In an update, the Provenance Collection said that from March, The Cleveland Tontine would become a wedding and events space.

When the Tontine is not open for private events it will be used for different levels of training for kitchens and front of the house, according to the owners.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Provenance Collection said: “The Cleveland Tontine, one of North Yorkshire’s most iconic venues, is excited to announce a major transformation of its operations.
“From March the renowned venue will pivot its primary focus to becoming a premier wedding and events facility, alongside housing our Provenance Excellence Academy.
“Setting the highest standards across the business from the front of house to kitchens with inductions, refreshers, personal growth and management training.
“For decades, the Cleveland Tontine has been a beacon of luxury and fine dining, celebrated for its rich history, distinctive ambience, and award-winning culinary offerings.
“This new chapter marks an exciting evolution, positioning the Tontine as a destination for exceptional events while nurturing the next generation of talent.”
The Provenance Collection own The Oak Tree Inn (Helperby), The Punch Bowl Inn (Marton-Cum-Grafton), The Crown & Cushion (Welburn), The Carpenters Arms (Felixkirk), The Black Bull Inn (Moulton), The West Park Hotel (Harrogate), and The Coach & Horses (Harrogate).
