Quora Group celebrates 20th anniversary with record turnover
Quora Group, a mechanical, electrical, and plumbing services provider, has grown from its humble beginnings to become a key player in the industry.
Launched in 2005, the North Shields-based company now boasts more than 120 employees.
The firm’s consistent growth led to the staff moving into a 5,000 sq ft headquarters on the Tyne Tunnels Trading Estate 18 months ago.
As it marks its 20th anniversary, Quora Group has posted a £15 million turnover and aims to surpass this figure in the coming year.
Craig Firth, managing director of Quora Group, said: “Over the past 20 years, Quora Group has mirrored the resilience and resurgence of the North East business landscape, and the whole team is thrilled that everyone’s hard work has resulted in a record year.
“Reaching 20 years is worth celebrating, and it is testament to the commitment of our team and the trust our clients put in us to deliver for them.”
The firm has also shown resilience in the face of adversity, particularly when the global financial crisis hit a few years into its journey.
This spurred the company to diversify and expand its geographical reach.
Strategic recruitment from 2012 onwards fuelled a substantial increase in staff numbers, while 2015 saw extensive growth in turnover and project volume.
The past five years have seen this upward trajectory continue, with growth across the business, which rebranded from Gastech in 2021.
The company has secured contracts on major projects, including the AESC Giga Factory in Sunderland and the Bank House development in Newcastle’s Pilgrim Street.
Quora Group’s success is rooted in its commitment to quality, adaptability, and early adoption of digital technology.
Mr Firth said: “The market was evolving rapidly, with technology beginning to reshape the construction sector.
“My understanding of those emerging tools allowed us to adapt quickly and provide effective solutions.
“That adaptability has been key to our growth, and I believe it reflects the North East’s own spirit of innovation.”
The firm’s growth also includes its contemporary workspace, which is more than twice the size of its previous unit and features a relaxing breakout area.
With a strong portfolio of trusted clients, including Brims Construction and SES Engineering Services, Quora Group plans to continue its success in the coming years.
Mr Firth added: “The next financial milestone is a £20m turnover, and we remain focused on our core values: delivering high-quality projects, fostering strong client relationships, and embracing innovation.
“This commitment positions Quora Group for continued success and underscores our role in the North East’s thriving future.”
