Penshaw Tea Rooms receives top scores on TripAdvisor



Penshaw Tea Room, which saw influencers flock to its doors to try its food, has picked up more than 240 ‘excellent’ reviews on TripAdvisor, the top score possible on the website.

The tea room featured in a video on TikTok creator ‘DannyVlogsTravels’ and raked in upwards of 44,000 likes, branding the cake ‘the best ever’. The video, which has more than 660,000 views, also sees people praising the welcoming nature of the staff at the cafe, which is located by Sunderland landmark Penshaw Monument.

One contributor on TripAdvisor said: “Had a lovely time here with friends. I had a pulled pork panini,i which was delicious.

“Was a really nice place to potter around too. Beautiful place to enjoy a chill afternoon. We also got the fresh milk outside the tearooms, which was so yummy! Recommend a visit definitely.”

Another reviewer said: “Visited over the weekend for a late lunch. It is always really busy, especially so on a sunny day; however, the staff always do their best to get you seated and served as quickly as possible.

“I opted for the lasagne, which was amazing, and the homemade chips are always a huge hit!

“The portions are pretty big, but it’s always worth making space for one of their cakes. I had lemon on this occasion and it was unreal!”

Meanwhile, another on the site said: “A friend and I decided to meet at Penshaw tea rooms for a chat and lunch.

“It was a great choice even if we had to wait a bit as it was that busy. The food and cakes are excellent, atmosphere and staff great.

“There’s a farm butchers and vegetable shop on site. I took a peach Melba home, it was huge. Two slices of steak and ale pie was also bought for the next day’s tea.”
