Inside The Myton in Ingleby Barwick after major revamp

The Myton House Farm, which has been a popular haunt for housing estate residents since the 1990s, reopened last month following a fresh revamp.

It has become one of the first venues in the UK to launch under pub chain owner Marston’s new Grandstand sports pub concept, offering “unbeatable” live sports experiences.

From giant new screens and immersive sound to a new pool table and dedicated darts area, The Myton has been given a new look “perfect for summer tournaments”.

The huge new screens will be home to everything from football and rugby to F1 and tennis, with every key sporting fixture shown at the pub.

There are also new tiered viewing areas and an enhanced outdoor setup for the summer months, plus a new app that allows guests to enjoy the action without leaving their seats.

On the menu, guests will be able to enjoy themed matchday snacks from Pukka pies and pasties to classic pub mains, with draught beers available in two pint cups.

There will also be 10% off pre-match pints for an hour before kick-off.

Plus, post-game, there will be weekly music nights, quizzes, and rock and roll bingo, with black card rewards for local teams, offering bottomless chips and exclusive incentives.

The Myton is one of two Teesside pubs to launch under the new Grandstand concept, with The Coronation Inn, in Acklam, Middlesbrough, similarly reopening following a revamp.

To mark the reopening of The Myton, NHS worker Deb Gale, who founded CPAD (Community Public Access Defibrillators), was chosen as The Myton’s community hero to pull the first pint.

Deb was inspired during the COVID-19 pandemic to take action after noticing a lack of accessible defibrillators in the area – and thanks to her efforts, there are now over 100 defibrillators across the area.

Today, no matter where you are in Ingleby Barwick, a defibrillator is within 500 metres.

Despite working full-time and raising a family, Deb continues to volunteer her time and energy to CPAD purely out of a desire to support her community.

Tom Judge, the founder and director of men’s mental health organisation First Contact UK, was similarly chosen as the Coronation Inn community hero –

The former athlete, who is known for running marathons with a fridge strapped to his back, is soon set to embark on his most ambitious challenge yet, an endurance run from Middlesbrough to Spain.

Both The Coronation and The Myton now feature unique local sports displays, with memorabilia sourced from the community.

Locals are still encouraged to contribute, helping each pub honour the players, teams and memories that matter most to Middlesbrough.

Geoff Hughes, partner at The Coronation Inn, said: “It’s amazing to see the pub come back to life with such energy. Our regulars are loving the new experience, whether it’s a big game or a quiet pint, there’s something for everyone here.”

Courtney Lewis, general manager at The Myton, added: “We’re already seeing the community get involved, bringing in photos, filling our quiz nights, and supporting their teams on the big screens.”
